Based in Malta, Darren holds a BSc in Information Technology and Networking from Middlesex University and brings over a decade of IT management experience across some demanding environments — from iGaming operators to energy infrastructure. Before joining Highbet, he spent more than six years as IT Manager at ElectroGas Malta, one of the country's most technically complex independent power facilities, where he oversaw everything from server architecture and disaster recovery strategies to network design and infrastructure auditing. Prior to that, he gained his first taste of the iGaming world at BetHard Group, managing IT operations and supporting a major office migration for the Malta-based online casino and sportsbook.
At Highbet, Darren manages the full scope of IT operations — infrastructure, security, platform integrations, and cross-team technical support — while also serving as the bridge between the platform provider and the internal development and SEO teams. More recently, his role has expanded to take in wider operational responsibilities, including payments coordination and cross-functional execution, reflecting the trust the business places in his ability to keep things running at pace and at scale.

His technical expertise spans server and network architecture, vulnerability management, disaster recovery planning, and the complex integrations that sit behind a regulated online gaming platform — connecting payment providers, frontend developers, and platform partners into a single, reliable system. He also holds a formal iGaming Academy qualification, giving him a strong understanding of the regulatory and fraud-prevention context in which Highbet's technology operates.
